Our classroom and school is a very busy place right now! Here are some things that are happening in our classroom, and at Mitchell Hepburn in the next couple of weeks:

1)Please sign your child’s explorer comic assessment page.

2)We will be having an Olympic Games opening ceremonies celebration in the gym this Friday.
-
3)Next Wednesday, Mitchell Hepburn will be having Carnaval, but with an Olympic twist this year.

4)My new student teacher starts in a couple of weeks.

5)Grade 6 students will be going skating next Friday.
-
6)Pizza lunch money is due next Tuesday.

7)My step-father will be joining us next week to give students some badminton lessons.

Feb. 26-New Student Teacher Begins
Language Arts
In the second term, we will continue to examine a variety of reading comprehension strategies including inferencing, and look at the writing traits of organization and voice. We will also explore biographies and begin literature circles.
Mathematics
We are currently working on Number Sense and will move onto our next unit shortly.
Science
Much of what students learn in Science will be taught in Language Arts. In the second term, students will be learning about Electricity.
Social Studies
Like Science, much of the Social Studies curriculum will be taught during Language Arts. As we move into the 3rd term, students will be learning about Canada and it’s trading partners.
Physical Education
During the second term, students will be learning about basketball and we will also be doing a unit on Badminton!
